2011-05-11 Central Dog Park on a Nice Wednesday Evening

This Wednesday was another gorgeous day and I was able to get Scraps and Rags to the dog park by 5:25 and we hung out for a couple of hours in the large dog park. When we first got to the park there we no dogs in the small dog park and only a handful in the large dog park.

I took a seat in the tall grass with the setting sun at my back and started taking photos of the dogs in the sun, I knew I would lose it soon. This worked well as the tall grass and the dark green shades of the dog park provided a very nice back drop for the photos. I always have to keep remembering how fortunate we are to have a dog park in such a beautiful setting.

As I sat there in the grass Scraps and Rags frolicked and rolled in it.  When there weren’t rolling in it they say there and protected me from the countless dogs that eventually came in to play in the park. The handful of dogs slowly but steadily tuned into several dozen and there were many playful dogs all around.

There were so many new dogs I had never seen before and I was able to catch a few names from distant yells of their owners or photographic zoom-ins on their dog-tags. In any case, let’s welcome the following dogs to the dog blog: Harley the Doberman who will be know as Harleyman, Leo the Boxer who will be known as LeoSpinks, LilyTan, and Renya the crazy blue-eyed Husky type.

It was really a great evening of taking pictures of the dogs and I got countless good shots so check them out.

2011-02-06 Central Dog Park in the Snow

The hair style being sported by Rory is precious!

Super Bowl Sunday at the dog park brought some of the nicest weather of the winter as the temperatures approached the 40s in strong sunlight.  It was warm enough to soften the icy crust on the snow making a nice comfortable environment for the Scraps and Rags.

We all arrived around 11:45 and stayed for an hour and a half.  The snow didn’t seem to bother the dog’s feet too much.  Maybe the musher’s wax we used on their paws helped.  We bought that years ago and haven’t tried it much, but figured we would give it a go today.

We spent about an hour in the small dog park as we watched Rory and Sebastian do what they do. Gracie White also found someone to play with and Scraps chased balls while Rags took it all in, rarely getting involved in a running scuffle. We did meet the cute little Enzo in the small dog park who  enjoyed playing with Rory and looked like a lot of fun.

After the small dog park thinned out we went into the large  dog park.  The must have been 20 dog in there.  In there I met Karachi, a big tan sleek dog by catching his name on his tag in a photo.  We welcome Enzo and Karachi to the dog park blog.

The sun was out for the most part and it gave me a great opportunity to photograph the dogs.  There were “snow” many good pictures, so check them out.

2011-01-01 Central Dog Park Sunny in the Snow on New Years Day

2011 is looking to be much brighter than 2010 if New Years Day is any indication.  Today was much brighter and warmer than yesterday.  This meant there were more dogs in the park.  Yesterday there were none in the small dog park, but today there was a nice mix.

By 12:30 Scraps and Rags got over their hangovers and dragged their haunches of of bed and to the dog park to play the other hungover dogs.  Today at the dog park we met Mozy, BaileyTan, a small happy playful tan dog and also Ginger, a slightly larger tan dog in the large dog park.  All three are new to the blogs tagging system, so welcome.

The small dog park was still covered with snow.  This kept it clean and fun to run around in but eventually Scraps’ feet seemed to get cold so we headed to the large dog park where there was more of the ground was showing through the previously melted snow.  With today’s high temperatures, the ground was much muddier than yesterday.  Rags does really like the mud at all; what a princess.

We left around 1:30 when the sun began to hide behind a blanket of clouds. Prior to the sun leaving I was able to take lots of good light drenched pictures so check them out and enjoy.  Happy New Year!

2010-11-14 Central Dog Park on Sunday Afternoon

It’s football Sunday afternoon with the Jets at 1:00 and the Giants at 4:00 so the dogs came to the dog park in spurts trying to fit their fun in between the games.  Scraps and Rags, being the Giant fans that they are, didn’t mind missing the Jet 1:00 game so they hung out for a few hours at the park between 12:30 and 3:00.

First we all checked out the small dog park which was bristling with action.  Scraps was enjoying his new rubber Chuck-it balls. The small dog park started out with a lot of dogs and then the pack thinned out.  We all headed to the big dog park next and hung out there for a while.  We completed the day back in the small dog park which only had a few dogs to begin with and then they came flooding in.

There were many dogs at the park on this beautiful fall day.  We met a lot of new ones which I am going to welcome to the blog in mass since there were so many.  Welcomed to the dog park blog are new dogs Penny, Maddie, Hooter, Bagel, Dradle, Figgy and Paco.  The sun was partially out so I took advantage of the sunlight when I could capture it.  There are lots of good photos so check them out.
