2011-12-04 Morris County and Denville Dog Parks on a Sunny Sunday

It was another beautiful Sunday which sent Scraps and Rags bark hopping to a variety of dog parks.  We went from an exciting time at the small dog park at Central Park to a peaceful time at Denville dog park and capped the afternoon off with a return to central Park.

Initially in Central Park we met Toby, a long-haired Chihuahua, who was the  most energetic dog in the park.  Giving Rory a run for his money.  It was nice to see this tiny burst of energy flying around the mud and providing entertainment to everyone.  We welcome Toby to the dog park blog.

As I mentioned, we headed to the Denville dog park for some agility practice as Scraps and Rags have a competition this weekend and a little work on the weave poles will do them good.  We did meet Milo there when we arrive who was the only dog in Denville.  After some good agility practice, ball fetching and photo taking we were ready to go home.  One the way we passed the central dog park and it was once again happening so we stopped by for a little night-cap.

2011-02-06 Central Dog Park in the Snow

The hair style being sported by Rory is precious!

Super Bowl Sunday at the dog park brought some of the nicest weather of the winter as the temperatures approached the 40s in strong sunlight.  It was warm enough to soften the icy crust on the snow making a nice comfortable environment for the Scraps and Rags.

We all arrived around 11:45 and stayed for an hour and a half.  The snow didn’t seem to bother the dog’s feet too much.  Maybe the musher’s wax we used on their paws helped.  We bought that years ago and haven’t tried it much, but figured we would give it a go today.

We spent about an hour in the small dog park as we watched Rory and Sebastian do what they do. Gracie White also found someone to play with and Scraps chased balls while Rags took it all in, rarely getting involved in a running scuffle. We did meet the cute little Enzo in the small dog park who  enjoyed playing with Rory and looked like a lot of fun.

After the small dog park thinned out we went into the large  dog park.  The must have been 20 dog in there.  In there I met Karachi, a big tan sleek dog by catching his name on his tag in a photo.  We welcome Enzo and Karachi to the dog park blog.

The sun was out for the most part and it gave me a great opportunity to photograph the dogs.  There were “snow” many good pictures, so check them out.

2010-12-18 Central Dog Park on a Cold Saturday Afternoon

In December, it has been tough for Scraps and Rags to find the chance to get to the dog park.  This Saturday was nice and sunny so that the cold temperature was not too much of a problem.  We were able to spend an hour in the small dog park with some of our old friends.  For the most part we had a good time except for a viscous skirmish Rags got into with Simba.  Good thing I was quick on the pull as I hoisted Rags in the air quickly before too much damage was done.  Short of that, it was a nice day with some nice pictures.  I liked Gracie’s red outfit, it reminded me of the PJ’s Agarn and O’Rooke used to wear on F-Troop.

2010-11-28 Central Dog Park on Sunday Afternoon

Sunday was by far the nicest day of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  Though cold, the strong sun combined with no winds made it a very nice day at Morris County’s dog park. There were a lot of dogs enjoying the opportunity to get out and enjoy the sunshine.  Scraps and Rags arrived around 11:00 to find no small dogs in the small dog park. The big dog park was quite active so we went into it only to find all the small dogs were in the big park.  It was good to see Sebastian survived and thrived.  Finally, you have to check out the variety of outfits worn by the dogs.

Most of the dogs were back at the far side of the park as the area where most people congregate has turned muddy and slippery.  This situation is only going to get worse because we still have not had a lot of rain or a snow melt since the dog park has opened; and a lot of the grass is gone.  Mudfests await us all in our dog park future, so I suggest everyone get a good set of boots for when it comes.

Scraps ad Rags eventually meandered into the small dog park around 12:30 as a nice crowd assembled in there.  We met a cool new dog named Wilson, a recent rescue with the wild eyes.  It was his first time to the dog park so we welcome him to both the park and the blog.  We also had Penny the MiniPin who is new to the blog so welcome to her.

The sunlight was good and I was able to capture some good action in the photographs.  With all the dogs, the good lighting and the 2.5 hours we spent at the dog park I took the most photos I have taken so far at the dog park, so check them out.
