2011-05-14 Dogs Gone Wild Fundraiser for Denville Dog Park and Animal Shelter

Dogs Gone Wild fundraiser for the Denville dog park and animal shelter was billed as an off leash swimming and playing for event your dogs enjoyment, picnic area for your enjoyment. The fee for the event was $10 for dog park members $20 for non members all money goes to support the denville dog park and animal shelter.

Previous years’ Dogs Gone Wild have helped create and build the Happy Hound Playground (Denville Dog Park) as well as help pay for the new Gazebo, benches, picnic tables and the new dog pool that will be installed this spring at the dog park. Contributions have also helped pay for medical expenses for animals that are in need at the Denville Animal shelter.

This was the first time Scraps and Rags ever made it to this event and from the talk we heard, the turnout was better than ever.  It was cloudy with no sun but it wasn’t cold and it never rained.  While no people went in the water above their knees, many a dog took the opportunity to play in the water and have some wet fun.  It was tough to recognize many of the dogs that were we because they just don’t look the same.

There was a high density of dogs in and around the water giving me up close access to a lot of action.  The only thing missing was the sun.  Nevertheless, the happiness of the dogs playing in the water with so many of their friends in and around them more than made up for the lack of sunlight and resulted in many good pictures.

I hope the event made some good money for Denville and Scraps and Rags  look forward to coming to many more of these Dogs Gone Wild events at Cook’s Pond.  You can also help support the dog park buy purchasing photographs of the dogs I took during the day.

2011-03-20 Denville Dog Park Sunny Crowded Sunday

Compared to last Sunday at the Denville Dog Park, this last day of winter proved to be a beautiful day to be with your dogs at the dog park.  Though temperatures were only in the 50’s, the sun was out and there was no wind, so it was comfortable.  We stayed from around 3:00 to 4:30.

Scraps and Rags saw many of the Denville Dog Park faithful that they haven’t seen in a long while.  With the Morris County Dog Park still closed for renovations, the Denville Dog Park again provided a great outlet for Scraps and Rags.   With the nice crowd of dogs that were at the dog park, the Denville Dog Park experienced showed why it is one not to be taken for granted.  I am very happy we decided to maintain our membership at the Denville Dog Park.

A couple of new dogs to the dog park blog include Rosie, and rambunctious 9-month old puppy and her brother Masie.   I assume I spelled Maisie’s name wrong but we welcome the two of them nevertheless.  The sun was out and getting low in the sky and there were lots of dogs playing.  I was able to capture a lot of nice photographs, so check them out.

2010-11-01 Central Dog Park on Monday Afternoon

Scraps and Rags were lucky enough to get some dog park time in on a Monday afternoon.  Speaking of lucky enough, when we arrived there was this tiny, 6-month old black and white dog named Lucky, who we will welcome as LuckySmall.  Also new to me and the blog was a puffy white dog named Baxter. There were more dogs and more activity in the small dog park including a frantic Jack Russell that would leave many alone.  Finally, we saw old time friends Ollie and Grace, the white and black standard poodles we know from the Denville dog park.

It was sunny out and with the leaves falling ff the trees the light shined through on the dog’s faces and I got a lot of good photographs, so check them out.

2010-08-28 – Saturday in Dog Park

It was a gorgeous Saturday in late August so we decided to bike ride with Scraps and Rags over to the Central Dog Park after breakfast and then head to the Morris Plains farmers market thereafter.  It was a great plan and well executed.  When we got to the dog park we saw a few of our friends from the Denville Dog Park including the poodles, Lily, Ollie and Grace.  Phoebe was also there for a little while.

There were 5 or 6 small dogs that we hung out with including Henry and Hamlet.  We also saw Ringo for the first time at the dog park.  It was nice that we were able to enjoy the tent and chairs staged for tomorrows Dinner With Your Dogs fund raiser.  We all look forward to that event as the weather is looking to be mighty fine for that one.
