2011-05-14 Dogs Gone Wild Fundraiser for Denville Dog Park and Animal Shelter

Dogs Gone Wild fundraiser for the Denville dog park and animal shelter was billed as an off leash swimming and playing for event your dogs enjoyment, picnic area for your enjoyment. The fee for the event was $10 for dog park members $20 for non members all money goes to support the denville dog park and animal shelter.

Previous years’ Dogs Gone Wild have helped create and build the Happy Hound Playground (Denville Dog Park) as well as help pay for the new Gazebo, benches, picnic tables and the new dog pool that will be installed this spring at the dog park. Contributions have also helped pay for medical expenses for animals that are in need at the Denville Animal shelter.

This was the first time Scraps and Rags ever made it to this event and from the talk we heard, the turnout was better than ever.  It was cloudy with no sun but it wasn’t cold and it never rained.  While no people went in the water above their knees, many a dog took the opportunity to play in the water and have some wet fun.  It was tough to recognize many of the dogs that were we because they just don’t look the same.

There was a high density of dogs in and around the water giving me up close access to a lot of action.  The only thing missing was the sun.  Nevertheless, the happiness of the dogs playing in the water with so many of their friends in and around them more than made up for the lack of sunlight and resulted in many good pictures.

I hope the event made some good money for Denville and Scraps and Rags  look forward to coming to many more of these Dogs Gone Wild events at Cook’s Pond.  You can also help support the dog park buy purchasing photographs of the dogs I took during the day.

2010-09-01 – Bark-Hopping ‘Round Town

Scraps and Rags haven’t been to the Denville dog park in quite some time so we wanted to head over there and say hello to some of their buddies.  This time around, there were lots of our old buddies running about.  The sun was setting but the dogs were playing in its glow and I was able to get some good photos from the warmly lit Denville dog park.

Does anyone know this dog's name?

It was nice that I was able to practice a little agility jumping with Rags as she is going to be running in her first pseudo-official agility run (jumpers only) this Saturday.  Scraps will also be running but this is routine practice for him at this point.  As usual, Rags was totally annoying and unsocial to Fargoe, I feel terrible about that relationship.  Good thing Fargoe is so even tempered cause he would and should have eaten Rags for dinner.  I don’t want to fail to mention that Charlie had an on-going humpfest with MollyGold’s leg.  Nothing was enough for Charlie tonight.

After Denville we moseyed on down to the Central Park dog park to play with a few little dogs on the way home.  There we saw Yoshi and Phoebe as well as Spike who is now officially named and recognized on the blog, so welcome Spike. Actually you can see him on yesterday’s posting featured prominently in the video.  Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos or videos to show from our time at the Morris County dog park.

2010-08-13 Denville Dog Park after sunset

Scraps and Rags arrived late on a cool “That G-d It’s Friday” missing all the good sunlight.  What we missed in sun and we gained in fun as lots of dogs were there when we arrived.  It was cool and they were playful.  New to us and the blog were three dogs tonight including Mr. Strudel who Scraps had a thing for which was good to see, Sunny and Bella the wildly striped dog.

We all have to get our sleep as the opening of the new Morris County Central Park Dog Park opens tomorrow.  I personally don’t like the name of it, I think it should be called Dog Park central.  Nevertheless, the four of us intend on riding our bikes over there tomorrow morning at 10:00 to celebrate the opening.   It should be a good time.  That is one big dog park!

2010-08-11 Denville Dog Park before sunset but in the clouds

Scraps and Rags haven’t been at the dog park for over a week as we were all busy competing in a dog agility trial over the week end.  We got there pretty early, before most of the other dogs.  At the park were SammyBlack, Goji, Phoebe and a new dog to us and the blog, Cookie a Golden who quickly pinned Scraps against the fence and overwhelmed him in a pretty frightening manner.  He then proceeded to do the same to Rags.  We boogied into the small dog park and threw a few balls around until Cookie left. I hope we don’t meet him again.

We then re-joined the rest of the safe dogs in the main area.  A whole bunch of dogs began to arrive around 6:00 p.m. and the dog park was about as busy as I have seen it since we have gone there.  I count 23 dogs and I probably missed 1 or 2.  Unfortunately, the clouds rolled in and the light was not there to effectively capture all the action in all it glory.  I did what I could.  There is probably better video than there is photography.  Let me not forget that also new to the blog arriving late before I left were Tucker, Maggie and Carter. Finally, while Cindy came right as we left, I don’t think I got any pictures of her, but if I gave Cookie a mention after what he did to Scraps and Rags, I didn’t want to forget Cindy.
