2010-11-28 Central Dog Park on Sunday Afternoon

Sunday was by far the nicest day of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  Though cold, the strong sun combined with no winds made it a very nice day at Morris County’s dog park. There were a lot of dogs enjoying the opportunity to get out and enjoy the sunshine.  Scraps and Rags arrived around 11:00 to find no small dogs in the small dog park. The big dog park was quite active so we went into it only to find all the small dogs were in the big park.  It was good to see Sebastian survived and thrived.  Finally, you have to check out the variety of outfits worn by the dogs.

Most of the dogs were back at the far side of the park as the area where most people congregate has turned muddy and slippery.  This situation is only going to get worse because we still have not had a lot of rain or a snow melt since the dog park has opened; and a lot of the grass is gone.  Mudfests await us all in our dog park future, so I suggest everyone get a good set of boots for when it comes.

Scraps ad Rags eventually meandered into the small dog park around 12:30 as a nice crowd assembled in there.  We met a cool new dog named Wilson, a recent rescue with the wild eyes.  It was his first time to the dog park so we welcome him to both the park and the blog.  We also had Penny the MiniPin who is new to the blog so welcome to her.

The sunlight was good and I was able to capture some good action in the photographs.  With all the dogs, the good lighting and the 2.5 hours we spent at the dog park I took the most photos I have taken so far at the dog park, so check them out.

2010-10-09 – Central Dog Park on a Sunny Afternoon

Saturday of this weekend turned out to be as nice as Friday was yesterday.  The big difference is we were able to take our time and enjoy several hours in the dog park on a sunny afternoon.  Scraps and Rags first hung out with a handful of small dogs in the small dog park before heading over to where the big guys were.  There we did a couple of laps and watched many dogs come and go.  There were large numbers at the park around 3:00 with many dogs playing and running.  It looked like a good time to me for most dogs there.

We met a few new dogs including the Dachshund named Jackson and a Jack Russell named Harley.  With so many Harleys in the dog-eat-dog world, we will call this one HarleyJack.

2010-09-19 Central Dog Park on a Sunday Afternoon

With the Jets playing the Patriots at 4:00 and the Giants playing the Colts at 8:00, it afforded many people the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Sunday afternoon sunshine with the dogs at the dog park.  After finishing her second week of beginners agility training on Sunday morning, Rags grabbed her brother Scraps and the bicycles and we all headed over to the dog park.

When we got there we discovered many dogs in the small dog park including tiny little  RoxyChi who we met yesterday, Phoebe, Lewis and Clark and other came and went.  This may have been the most crowded day we have had at the new dog park.  At one point I tried to count and I estimate 40 dogs were in the large dog park with probably 10 more in the small.  It was a great day and all the dogs seem to play well together.

After spending a while in the small dog park we entered the big one and did a lap.  There we met Trace, a wiry-haired Jack Russell.  There was the Carin Terrier named Guinness.  Many new dogs to add to the blog.  We then sat down with the big dogs in the shade and enjoyed their play.  We saw this other white haired Jack Russell named Luna with a grey patch over her left eye.  There was also Oliver the Bassett Hound.  Wow, there were a lot of dogs and it was just so comfortable, everyone was just relaxing on the lawn while their dogs played.  We spent 2 to 2 and a half hours at the park without batting an eye.  We eventually ended up in the small dog park to close the day and the weekend.  We are still enjoying this great dog park as its popularity keeps growing.  It really has been a great gift to us.
