2011-06-17 Central Dog Park

Friday night had storms all around us, but central Morris County missed the blow.  This kept the dogs away, but for those who were there, it was really nice out.  Scraps and Rags didn’t stay long as we we hungry for dinner.  What we did experience was the reopening of the front side of the large dog park.  The grass has grown in nicely and it was open whereas the back part was now closed.  Whatever they did, it is working because the grass grew back great in this section of the reopened dog park. We did experience a few new dogs to the dog blog on this night including Freckles and Chloe

2011-05-25 Central Dog Park on Wednesday Evening

On a really nice evening in late May, Scraps and Rags headed on down to the dog park.  They have been involved in agility trials and haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy the park over the weekend so tonight was a great opportunity to see some dogs.  Considering how nice it was outside, it was surprising that there weren’t more dogs at the dog park.

We hung out at the back meadow of the large dog park for most of the time capturing nice photos of the dogs when they ran out into the sunny side of the grass.   Though only a few dogs were there, it was a good bunch with just a lot of good playing.  We keep seeing more and more new dogs all the time in addition to some of the old standards.  The only new dog’s name that I recall was Hannah, the 3 year old brown and white Jack Russell; so we welcome her to the dog blog. We saw her in the small dog park where we ended the our trip to the park.  There was also a small but playful bunch of dogs in there.

For the most part, the photos in the sun in the large dog park are nice so check those out.  It was tough getting anything too good in the small dog park as it gets dark in there pretty early.

2011-05-11 Central Dog Park on a Nice Wednesday Evening

This Wednesday was another gorgeous day and I was able to get Scraps and Rags to the dog park by 5:25 and we hung out for a couple of hours in the large dog park. When we first got to the park there we no dogs in the small dog park and only a handful in the large dog park.

I took a seat in the tall grass with the setting sun at my back and started taking photos of the dogs in the sun, I knew I would lose it soon. This worked well as the tall grass and the dark green shades of the dog park provided a very nice back drop for the photos. I always have to keep remembering how fortunate we are to have a dog park in such a beautiful setting.

As I sat there in the grass Scraps and Rags frolicked and rolled in it.  When there weren’t rolling in it they say there and protected me from the countless dogs that eventually came in to play in the park. The handful of dogs slowly but steadily tuned into several dozen and there were many playful dogs all around.

There were so many new dogs I had never seen before and I was able to catch a few names from distant yells of their owners or photographic zoom-ins on their dog-tags. In any case, let’s welcome the following dogs to the dog blog: Harley the Doberman who will be know as Harleyman, Leo the Boxer who will be known as LeoSpinks, LilyTan, and Renya the crazy blue-eyed Husky type.

It was really a great evening of taking pictures of the dogs and I got countless good shots so check them out.

2011-05-09 Central Park Dog Park – Monday Evening

A beautiful Monday evening meant Scraps and Rags were going to the dog park.  While everyone’s tails were wagging, when I grabbed my camera I realized I had brought and left my Compact-Flash drive for the camera at work.  I grabbed the default flash drive that came with the camera but it was so small, it only gave me capacity for 11 pictures, and that is at a lower resolution than I usually shoot.  I would only get 3 pictures using my typical resolution.

It was too bad, the sun was setting nicely and the tall grass made for some “fidogenic” opportunities.  I was also surprised there weren’t more dogs at the park considering how nice of an evening it was.  Oh well, there will be more chances ahead of us..
