2011-05-14 Dogs Gone Wild Fundraiser for Denville Dog Park and Animal Shelter

Dogs Gone Wild fundraiser for the Denville dog park and animal shelter was billed as an off leash swimming and playing for event your dogs enjoyment, picnic area for your enjoyment. The fee for the event was $10 for dog park members $20 for non members all money goes to support the denville dog park and animal shelter.

Previous years’ Dogs Gone Wild have helped create and build the Happy Hound Playground (Denville Dog Park) as well as help pay for the new Gazebo, benches, picnic tables and the new dog pool that will be installed this spring at the dog park. Contributions have also helped pay for medical expenses for animals that are in need at the Denville Animal shelter.

This was the first time Scraps and Rags ever made it to this event and from the talk we heard, the turnout was better than ever.  It was cloudy with no sun but it wasn’t cold and it never rained.  While no people went in the water above their knees, many a dog took the opportunity to play in the water and have some wet fun.  It was tough to recognize many of the dogs that were we because they just don’t look the same.

There was a high density of dogs in and around the water giving me up close access to a lot of action.  The only thing missing was the sun.  Nevertheless, the happiness of the dogs playing in the water with so many of their friends in and around them more than made up for the lack of sunlight and resulted in many good pictures.

I hope the event made some good money for Denville and Scraps and Rags  look forward to coming to many more of these Dogs Gone Wild events at Cook’s Pond.  You can also help support the dog park buy purchasing photographs of the dogs I took during the day.

2011-03-20 Denville Dog Park Sunny Crowded Sunday

Compared to last Sunday at the Denville Dog Park, this last day of winter proved to be a beautiful day to be with your dogs at the dog park.  Though temperatures were only in the 50’s, the sun was out and there was no wind, so it was comfortable.  We stayed from around 3:00 to 4:30.

Scraps and Rags saw many of the Denville Dog Park faithful that they haven’t seen in a long while.  With the Morris County Dog Park still closed for renovations, the Denville Dog Park again provided a great outlet for Scraps and Rags.   With the nice crowd of dogs that were at the dog park, the Denville Dog Park experienced showed why it is one not to be taken for granted.  I am very happy we decided to maintain our membership at the Denville Dog Park.

A couple of new dogs to the dog park blog include Rosie, and rambunctious 9-month old puppy and her brother Masie.   I assume I spelled Maisie’s name wrong but we welcome the two of them nevertheless.  The sun was out and getting low in the sky and there were lots of dogs playing.  I was able to capture a lot of nice photographs, so check them out.

2010-10-22 Central Dog Park – TGIF at Dusk

TGIF – Scraps and Rags arrived at the dog park after a long hard week of dog work, so they were psyched it was Friday and that they were at the dog park.  When we arrived we saw there was only one lonely dog in the small dog park, so we spent the entire time in the large dog park.  There were must have been 20-30 dogs in the large dog park so there was a good crowd in there.

We saw Lily, the brown and white Poodle, who we used to often see at the Denville dog park.  Lily eventually found some dogs to play with, so that was good to see.  We hung with the group of 4 hot dogs hanging around trying their best to cause and not to cause chaos.  Eventually, Forrest the the brown-eyed while Jack Russell, showed up and he got Rags going where they were chasing each other for a little while.  When Patches and MiloLong showed up, Forrest gravitated to Patches filling the void Scraps would have liked to fill. On this day Scraps was just a bystander.  Good thing, because as Patches and Forrest were going at it two larger more intimidating dogs were surrounding the two of them and barking like mad.  That would have made me nervous.  Patches says, “Bring it on.”

While it wasn’t cloudy outside, the winds blew steadily and it felt cold.  Scraps and Rags only hung out for 45 minutes before we left to eat dinner.  In that short time we got a few photos, so check them out.

2010-09-10 Bark Hoppin’ After Dark

As summer comes to and end, getting to the dog park after work before dark becomes a challenge.  On this Friday night Scraps and Rags got to Central Dog Park at 7:00 and while it wasn’t nighttime, it was getting dark.  I guess I have to learn to use a flash or get a new lens.  We stayed at the Central Dog Park for a half our.  Rags had a good play and run with both small Molly Gold and Scraps.  Scraps and Rags had a pretty good chase going on, rare for the two of them and we saw a couple of Beagles we had never seen before.

Since it got dark early we took advantage of the Denville Dog Park with the warm glow of their amber lights.  No enough light for photography but enough light where the dog park is open until 9:00.  We stayed there for 45 minutes or so and left with Goji on our way out to pick up some Carmel Haiffa Diner, Route 202 in Morris Plains.  It’s nice to have the option of the Denville Dog Park with their lights as the days get shorter.
