2011-02-12 Central Dog Park in the Snow

Saturday in dog park, you think it was the 4th of July, not!  February 12 and the snow cover that materialized just after Christmas is still thick and icy.  It was scheduled to be relatively warm and sunny so Scraps and Rags headed out to the park.  It proved to be be windy, mostly cloudy and cold.  We only stayed about 45 minutes until Scraps began shivering too much.  Nevertheless we got some time in both the small dog park and then the big one.

We got some good photos though including some good ones of Bailey, the small white happy dog.  She is new to the dog park blog so welcome to BaileySmall. Bailey, the crazy pickup chasing dog, was also present at the dog park and since he’s got the name, we have to call the new one, Bailey Small.  I also discovered Cains as a new dog by his dog tag, so I welcome this dog to our blog also.

2011-02-06 Central Dog Park in the Snow

The hair style being sported by Rory is precious!

Super Bowl Sunday at the dog park brought some of the nicest weather of the winter as the temperatures approached the 40s in strong sunlight.  It was warm enough to soften the icy crust on the snow making a nice comfortable environment for the Scraps and Rags.

We all arrived around 11:45 and stayed for an hour and a half.  The snow didn’t seem to bother the dog’s feet too much.  Maybe the musher’s wax we used on their paws helped.  We bought that years ago and haven’t tried it much, but figured we would give it a go today.

We spent about an hour in the small dog park as we watched Rory and Sebastian do what they do. Gracie White also found someone to play with and Scraps chased balls while Rags took it all in, rarely getting involved in a running scuffle. We did meet the cute little Enzo in the small dog park who  enjoyed playing with Rory and looked like a lot of fun.

After the small dog park thinned out we went into the large  dog park.  The must have been 20 dog in there.  In there I met Karachi, a big tan sleek dog by catching his name on his tag in a photo.  We welcome Enzo and Karachi to the dog park blog.

The sun was out for the most part and it gave me a great opportunity to photograph the dogs.  There were “snow” many good pictures, so check them out.

2011-01-30 Central Dog Park in the Snow

With the cold and snow of January, Scraps and Rags haven’t been to the dog park much to date in 2011.  It was relatively warm on this Sunday giving the the dogs a chance to enjoy the dog park in the snow without too much worry about being cold.

There is still a very thick foundation of snow on the ground and no dirt and mud to ugly up the entire place.  Those days are coming.  There were lots of dogs taking advantage of the nice day so we were able to have enough fun in the small dog park with the handful of dogs in there.  New to the blog is Butters the tan and white Jack Russell who had a good time chasing snow balls.

Toward then end of the day the sun came out from the clouds enough to get a few really nice shots.  The snow gives us a new perspective on the dogs, so check of the pictures I took, especially if you were there.

2011-01-01 Central Dog Park Sunny in the Snow on New Years Day

2011 is looking to be much brighter than 2010 if New Years Day is any indication.  Today was much brighter and warmer than yesterday.  This meant there were more dogs in the park.  Yesterday there were none in the small dog park, but today there was a nice mix.

By 12:30 Scraps and Rags got over their hangovers and dragged their haunches of of bed and to the dog park to play the other hungover dogs.  Today at the dog park we met Mozy, BaileyTan, a small happy playful tan dog and also Ginger, a slightly larger tan dog in the large dog park.  All three are new to the blogs tagging system, so welcome.

The small dog park was still covered with snow.  This kept it clean and fun to run around in but eventually Scraps’ feet seemed to get cold so we headed to the large dog park where there was more of the ground was showing through the previously melted snow.  With today’s high temperatures, the ground was much muddier than yesterday.  Rags does really like the mud at all; what a princess.

We left around 1:30 when the sun began to hide behind a blanket of clouds. Prior to the sun leaving I was able to take lots of good light drenched pictures so check them out and enjoy.  Happy New Year!
