2010-10-23 – Central Dog Park in the Late Morning

After a quick morning kayak paddle on the Passaic River, I met Scraps and Rags at the dog park.  I arrived an 11:05 and started snapping photos and Scraps and Rags arrived about 10 minutes after.  We only had about 45 minutes to stay before we had to leave, but it was a good photo session.

There were a fair amount of dog in the large dog park, the small dog park was empty.  The nice thing was that between 11:00 and 12:00 the sun was pointing to the west and the expansive rolling hills of the dog park with its peaking autumnal leaves serving as a back-drop.  This gave me my best opportunity in weeks to catch some dogs in a good light and todays’ photos are some of the best I have captured in a little while, so check them out.

2010-10-22 Central Dog Park – TGIF at Dusk

TGIF – Scraps and Rags arrived at the dog park after a long hard week of dog work, so they were psyched it was Friday and that they were at the dog park.  When we arrived we saw there was only one lonely dog in the small dog park, so we spent the entire time in the large dog park.  There were must have been 20-30 dogs in the large dog park so there was a good crowd in there.

We saw Lily, the brown and white Poodle, who we used to often see at the Denville dog park.  Lily eventually found some dogs to play with, so that was good to see.  We hung with the group of 4 hot dogs hanging around trying their best to cause and not to cause chaos.  Eventually, Forrest the the brown-eyed while Jack Russell, showed up and he got Rags going where they were chasing each other for a little while.  When Patches and MiloLong showed up, Forrest gravitated to Patches filling the void Scraps would have liked to fill. On this day Scraps was just a bystander.  Good thing, because as Patches and Forrest were going at it two larger more intimidating dogs were surrounding the two of them and barking like mad.  That would have made me nervous.  Patches says, “Bring it on.”

While it wasn’t cloudy outside, the winds blew steadily and it felt cold.  Scraps and Rags only hung out for 45 minutes before we left to eat dinner.  In that short time we got a few photos, so check them out.

2010-10-19 Central Dog Park at Dusk

When Scraps and Rags arrived at the dog park at 5:00 p.m. the sun had already set behind the western trees, sapping me of all the precious light I want for my dog photographs. Nevertheless, with the clouds from earlier in the day fading out over the eastern skies, we were able to see the smidge from a full moon hover peacefully above the colorful autumn trees.  This all provided a beautiful landscape for all the dogs to play around in.  With all of this splendid nature all around us, we must not forget how fortunate we are that this dog park is now here for us to enjoy and how gorgeous fall is in this neck of the woods.

First in the small dog park, we saw another handful of white dogs who are all realted to each other.  Each one a little different than the other.  I also officially met Tassie, a fluffy Pomeranian, who we will now welcome to the blog.   She reminds me of my cousin Stacy’s Pomeranian, Harry Winston.

Later on n the large dog park we were able to check out the big guys.  It was pretty much the usual crew as far as I could tell.  Rags had a nice little run-in and around with the brown and white Jack Russell who was wearing a Yankee collar.  No wonder they chased each other round in circles.  Actually, the Jack ran in circles and Rags tends to cut her circles off as she barrels into the one she is chasing.  I think I got some of that on video if and when I get around to posting it.  Speaking of which, go back and check older postings both to relive the old moments and see if I posted any dangling video I took from the days. My video posting lags behind everything else.

2010-10-18 Central Dog Park – Overcast Monday Afternoon

Scraps and Rags spent a couple of hours at the dog park this afternoon going from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  It was kind of cold because the sun wasn’t out but it really wasn’t too bad.

Initially in the small dog park, Scraps and Rags found a few small white dogs including a Westy named Oliver who we will welcome to the blog and refer to as OliverWest.    We then strolled into the large dog park where there seemed to be a lot of golden types.  We then headed back to the small dog park where we saw Rory the a Jack Russell, and Sebastian both chasing each other over a stick.  It was nice in that Rags eventually got involved in the chase.  We closed the evening back in the big dog park where Scraps and Rags had to contend with lots of dogs running around while Patches was making his presence known to them all.
