2010-10-24 – Morristown Dog Halloween Costume Parade

Though technically not the dog park, the 1st ever Morristown Dogs’ Halloween Costume Parade turned Morristown and the green into freaky doggy park.  Dogs and people are in costumes marching in and around Morristown and Halloween isn’t for another week.

Just after week7 beginners agility dog class with Rags, we headed on over to Morristown to catchup with the dog parade, which was just under way when we arrived.  Rags continued on home to pick up Scraps and they met me at the Green and the parade as it was in progress.  I took a lot of photographs of all the dogs that got dressed up and posted them at the link below.  Check out all the fun and if you weren’t there this year look to participate in it in 2011.

2010-10-08 Central Dog Park into Sunset

TDIF – Thank Dog It’s Friday – That’s right, it was Friday afternoon at the dog park and Scraps and Rags arrived around 4:30 and stayed until dark, around 6:45.  ‘Twas a beautiful day and evening and all the dogs seemed to bring their parents out for some fun the the dog park.

For Scraps and Rags it was a large dog park sandwich on small dog park bread. The large dog park had a lot of activity going on as there were play groups all over the place.  Scraps eventually found his buddy Patches and they started their own little x-rated play group.  There were so many dogs out in the dog park  that it is hard to recall 1/10th of them.  Tonight we will welcome Onxy to the group as I hope I got a good shot or two of him tonight.  It is tough on those black dogs like Onyx to capture anything but a silhouette without direct sunlight, but we still try.  In the small dog park we found very happy looking Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix that some people were dog sitting named Sonny who looked a lot like Scraps and had his coloring.

2010-09-18 Central Dog Park, Late Afternoon Session

While the morning session at the dog park was a bit overcast, the sun pushed through the clouds in the afternoon to present us with a magnificent Saturday. We didn’t take the bikes this time and got there just in time for a few precious rays of the sunlight peaking over the park’s trees.  Scraps and Rags followed me to the big dog park to take advantage of the waning light.

We were in the large park for a half hour, without walking the trail,  and then spent another half hour in the small dog park and left.  There were lots of dogs all over. There were bigs one, medium ones and lots of small ones including Roxy and smallest Chihuahua I have ever seen. Between this runt and a few other tiny ones, there was more yelping pretending to be barking than I could shake a stick at.

2010-09-11 Central Dog Park – Double Dose Saturday

It really was a beautiful Saturday so while we played at the dog park a little in the morning, the magnificence of the day was beckoning us back to the canines.  We were planning on going to the Denville dog park for the pre-dinner session but while passing the Central Dog Park we could resist pulling in when we saw such a nice large crowd.

In the small dog park was GracieWhite Spike. a couple of puppies, a little puppie who was freaked by the camera and four Dachshunds of various sizes.  We saw Gretsch  while in the small dog park and eventually wandered into the big dog park to hang out with the bigger guys.  While in the morning we had hounds and shepherds, the evening session seemed to have a lot of pit bulls.  The were all very friendly and we had another fun dog park experience. We also me Tara later on a fast little mutt a bit bigger than Scraps but with similar markings.
