2010-10-07 Central Dog Park After Sunset

Scraps and Rags arrived at the dog park around 6:00 p.m. and stayed until 6:45 when the park was beginning to empty due to darkness.  By the time we arrived it was already low light so any picture I took were dark but still I managed to snap a few and take some video for a few seconds.  There were a lot of dogs in the big dog park all having fun and playing.  I saw no bad behavior only dog-gone fun.  There were no wee ones in the little dog park.  There were lots of dog I didn’t know, yet heard their names, but at this juncture, I don’t recall them.  I will take this opportunity to welcome Pupita, an Hispanic Jack Russell Beagle mix who didn’t have a real name yet at 8 months old so her parents currently call her Pupita until something better comes along.  I also remember, or can see on her dog tag, Wilma, the spotted herding type of dog.

2010-10-02 – Central Dog Park After Agility Trial

Though cool, this first Saturday in October proved to be a beautiful day.  Scraps had been competing in a CPE agility trial at Lewis Morris Park all day but we got done with that at 5:00 so we had time to drive home, feed both Scraps and Rags and head to the Central Dog Park to get some play time in before dark.

Mozly ran after a deer when she was not on leash in the parking lot. We almost lost her. Be careful out there and leash your dog!

There were lots of dogs in the large dog park including 4 Bassett Hounds and a Beagle named Mozly who was off leash in the parking lot when leaving and when a deer caught his eye, Mozly was off.  He ran down Collins toward the woods and Central Avenue.  For about an hour a posse tried to track him down and it wasn’t looking good for a while as night time was approaching.  We heard someone in a neighborhood called the number on his collar and we assume Mozly was found.  The lesson should ring home for all of us not to take the dog’s safety for granted.  The rule is dogs must be on a leash outside the fenced dog park and it is a good rule that we all need to follow for our dogs’ sake!

2010-10-01 Central Dog Park on Friday Evening

Welcome Kiwi to MorrisCountyDogPark.com

After a week of rain, the clouds finally began to disperse on Friday afternoon where slowly but surely the dogs began to come out of hiding.  When we arrived at the dog park around 5:15 there was only one  dog in the small dog park and just 4 or 5 in the large one.  We spent a few minutes in the large one trying to use the few remaining rays of light for pictures, but to no avail.  We then played with Kiwi, the really cute Corgy, in the small dog park.  She would pose for the camera and would chase tennis balls all day long.  Let’s welcome Kiwi to the blog and hope we see more of her.

We returned to the large dog park where it was getting late but Scrap and Rags had some good play time with Patches and his brother MiloLong the brown Dachshund.  Though I didn’t get pictures of Phoebe he was there with his newly adopted brother brother Shylo, so let’s also welcome Shylo to the family.  As Scraps is competing in agility trials all weekend long at Lewis Morris Park we probably won’t see any of the dog park dogs during the weekend but enjoy the sun for it is likely to be brisk nice outside.

2010-09-28 Central Dog Park After Sunset

After a few days of rain, the sky cleared up enough just before the 7:00 p.m. darkness to let Scraps and Rags out to enjoy the dog park.  It was nice outside with a fast moving cloudy sky indicating a clearing was just ahead of us.  We played in the small dog park with Max, Gracie and a new dachshund named Stanley.  We eventually did a dark lap in the large dog park and met up with Molly and a 12 week old Boxer named Johnny U.
