2011-04-17 Denville Dog Park on a Sunny Sunday Afternoon

The sun came out on this Sunday after a very wet Saturday. Scraps and Rags wanted to enjoy the sunshine and head to the dog park. They have been to the Lewis Morris dog park recently, but with a season of dog agility trials beginning just a few week away, we decided to go to Denville so we could use the agility equipment.

When we got there we went to the small dog park where two small cute dogs were hanging out, Keo and Kaylie, or something like that.  Other new dogs we found include Mabel, so welcome to all the dogs.

On the way over to the Denville Dog Park we stopped by the dog park at Central Park and saw they have made some progress on the dog park.  There is paving and earth moving equipment in place and a gravel path has been laid.  Hopefully the new and improved dog park will be open soon.

The End.

2011-04-11 Lewis Morris Dog Park After Work on Monday

Today seemed like the warmest day of the year and it was nice to get Scraps and Rags out to the dog park after work.  With the Central Park dog park still closed for renovations, more on that in a subsequent post, the Dog Park at Lewis Morris was our choice for the day.  While warm, it was cloudy and rain seem to loom on the horizon, but it never materialized.

There were a dozen or so dogs in the large dog park and that’s where we stayed the whole time.  We met a few new dogs and I welcome all them to the dog blog. Some of the dogs I recall the names of include Lucy and Toulouse.  I think I also recall a Pierre and a Candy, the cool looking sleek brown dog, but his collar says Camden.  I’m not sure what his name is now.  Nevertheless, welcome and I look forward to see you all again, hopefully in the Central Park dog park when it reopens in a few weeks.

There was also a very photogenic slobbering small white bull-type of dog with remnants of red hearts painted on him.  He seemed more like a pig than a dog but he took a great picture.

2011-04-03 Lewis Morris Dog Park on a Beautiful Sunday

With the dog park at Central Park still closed for renovations and the fact that Scraps and Rags were the only dogs at Denville Dog park on the previous afternoon, we decided to check out the dog park at Lewis Morris Park. We haven’t been to that dog park for a long time but the weather was really nice and we had to go somewhere.  As they say, it was a dog day afternoon.

We headed to Lewis Morris Park fully intending to hike the trails but we figured we would see what was going on at the dog park first.  To our pleasant surprise, the place was packed.  There was even a handful of dogs in the depressing small dog park. With a handful of small dogs, that little plot of blacktop turned out to be a good time.

We hung in the dog park for a while and then decided to hike around the park.  When we got back to the dog park there were even more dogs around and more were on the way.  Though we only stayed in the small dog park, and there were many more dogs in the large park, we still met several new dogs to the dog park blog; so welcome in the food category Porkchop, Meatball and Tofu.  There was also the small dark grey furry dog named Gracie who we will call GracieGrey. There are a lot of Gracies out there and the name is taken. Finally, there was also Molly a cockerpoo, I believe, so we will refer to her as MollyPoo.  There are lots of Mollies also and that name is also taken.

A nice thing about the small tight dog park from a picture taking perspective  is that there is no shade and no where for the dogs to hide so I get more close-up than usual and a higher density of poses.  There are many good pictures so take a look.

2011-03-20 Denville Dog Park Sunny Crowded Sunday

Compared to last Sunday at the Denville Dog Park, this last day of winter proved to be a beautiful day to be with your dogs at the dog park.  Though temperatures were only in the 50’s, the sun was out and there was no wind, so it was comfortable.  We stayed from around 3:00 to 4:30.

Scraps and Rags saw many of the Denville Dog Park faithful that they haven’t seen in a long while.  With the Morris County Dog Park still closed for renovations, the Denville Dog Park again provided a great outlet for Scraps and Rags.   With the nice crowd of dogs that were at the dog park, the Denville Dog Park experienced showed why it is one not to be taken for granted.  I am very happy we decided to maintain our membership at the Denville Dog Park.

A couple of new dogs to the dog park blog include Rosie, and rambunctious 9-month old puppy and her brother Masie.   I assume I spelled Maisie’s name wrong but we welcome the two of them nevertheless.  The sun was out and getting low in the sky and there were lots of dogs playing.  I was able to capture a lot of nice photographs, so check them out.
