2010-11-13 Central Dog Park on Saturday Afternoon

A sunny Saturday afternoon at Morris County’s Central Park dog park welcomed Scraps and Rags and a whole host of other dogs, big and small.  The beautiful weather really brings out the dogs and they all seemed to have a good time.  Scraps and Rags were able to meet their across the street neighbor, Cloe who Rags barks at on the street so they never had a real chance to meet in peace.  It hardly mattered, Rags still barked at her in the dog park but they were a little more friendly to each other.  Trace was the cool Jack Russell that like to elevate.

2010-11-11 Central Dog Park on Veterans Day

With it being Veterans Day, Scraps and Rags had the opportunity to take a hike earlier in the day at Hacklebarney State Park located in Chester and Washington Townships.  They had a great time there hiking along the river and I recommend this place for anyone else looking for a nice hiking place with their dog.  We went right from the hike to the dog park.  Scraps and Rags seemed tired from their long hike and rock scramble along the Black River so when they arrived at the dog park they were rather subdued.

Though the day proved to be nice, clear and sunny, by the time we arrived at the dog park at 4:00 p.m. the sun, with all its good photography light, was hiding our behind the tree-line.  This made for some dark pictures but dark pictures are better than none at all.

New to the dog park blog was Lefty, the cute little Norfolk terrier.  We also had Penny Lane, some type of miniature Springer Spaniel.  Her vocally challenged black sibling was also at the dog park but I forgot his name.  Finally, we also had Nala, a little brown and white Jack Russell Terrier who looked a lot Rory but didn’t quite have the aggressive nature exhibited by Rory when Sebastian taunted played with him. Finally, we have LilyWhite, the tiny little white fluff-ball

2010-11-07 Central Dog Park on Sunday Afternoon

This was the weekend we changed the clocks back so it we knew it was going to get late early.  Scraps and Rags therefore headed to the dog park around 11:30 so not to experience that depressing early darkening that today brings.  In addition and more importantly, the Giants had the 4:00 p.m. game so we had to get our dog park fun in early.  Giants kicked some Seahawk butt, by the way, and spared their quarterback for some reason.

Once again, today was a beautiful fall day.  It was cool but the bright sun kept everyone warm and happy.  This brought the dogs out as the dog park was crowded, proving once again how successful this dog park is and what a great resource it is four us and our dogs.

Scraps and Rags first went to the small dog park as there were a dozen or so small ones running about.  Sebastian, Rory, GracieWhite and others played and wrestled and had a great time.  That Rory has a lot of energy.  We met a little dog named Gizmo, she was the only new dog’s name I recall so let’s welcome her to the blog and it’s Tag filter feature.

We then went to the big dog park and there was still a little color in the trees but the dogs were the real stars of the day.  Lots of cool new dogs in the big dog park, running in the sun and also wrestling.  We finished our visit at 1:20 and headed home.  Enjoy these sunny daytime photos as the week ahead only provides a closed dog park after the days early darkness.  Is Spring here yet?

2010-11-02 Central Dog Park on Election Day

It was a beautiful Election Day 2010 and this gave Scraps and Rags the opportunity to both go vote and take a nice long walk to and from the dog park.  It’s 1.3 miles each way, but it gave me a chance to enjoy the colors and even photograph a hawk in a tree on the way home. Unfortunately, the dogs can’t vote, is that right? and as Bailey’s fathers was discussing, therefore they have no hope of ever getting government sponsored health care coverage.  It’s a wacky dog-eat-dog world out there so stay on your paws out there.

When we arrived at the dog park at 12:45 it wasn’t too crowded but I did get the opportunity to meet and welcome Bosco the black, not brown, fluffy dog to the blog.  There was also Ziva the black dog who I didn’t really meet but was able to read his name off his tag.   While only there for 45 minutes we got lots of good photographs of the dogs,  so check them out.  Speaking of voting, inside the photo galleries of the Fidogenic.SmugMug.com site you can vote on pictures you like so feel free to like a photo or two. The most popular photos may one day end up on the front cover of Fidogeneic.SmugMug.com so vote for your favorite.
