2010-10-10 Central Dog Park on a Sunny Sunday Afternoon

After Scraps and Rags took a shortened kayak trip on the Split Rock reservoir we all headed to the dog park for a little more activity on solid ground.  It was still beautiful outside when we arrived at 3:30, but the sun sets below the tall trees on the western side of the dog park casting a shadow along the entire grassy slope .  This makes it difficult to get nice sunny photos, but I found the few spots where the sun leaks through the trees to capture some good photographs.  I guess once winter comes the sunny light will shine through the leafless trees.  Until then, the photos of the dogs are likely to be darker than desired but we will have the back-drop of colorful autumn leaves to help out.

At the dog park we welcome Jenny, a Jack-mix similar in size to Scraps.  They played and sniffed for a bit.  I don’t recall anyone new by name to add to the mix so I’ll just give you the link to the photos below.

2010-10-08 Central Dog Park into Sunset

TDIF – Thank Dog It’s Friday – That’s right, it was Friday afternoon at the dog park and Scraps and Rags arrived around 4:30 and stayed until dark, around 6:45.  ‘Twas a beautiful day and evening and all the dogs seemed to bring their parents out for some fun the the dog park.

For Scraps and Rags it was a large dog park sandwich on small dog park bread. The large dog park had a lot of activity going on as there were play groups all over the place.  Scraps eventually found his buddy Patches and they started their own little x-rated play group.  There were so many dogs out in the dog park  that it is hard to recall 1/10th of them.  Tonight we will welcome Onxy to the group as I hope I got a good shot or two of him tonight.  It is tough on those black dogs like Onyx to capture anything but a silhouette without direct sunlight, but we still try.  In the small dog park we found very happy looking Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix that some people were dog sitting named Sonny who looked a lot like Scraps and had his coloring.

2010-10-07 Central Dog Park After Sunset

Scraps and Rags arrived at the dog park around 6:00 p.m. and stayed until 6:45 when the park was beginning to empty due to darkness.  By the time we arrived it was already low light so any picture I took were dark but still I managed to snap a few and take some video for a few seconds.  There were a lot of dogs in the big dog park all having fun and playing.  I saw no bad behavior only dog-gone fun.  There were no wee ones in the little dog park.  There were lots of dog I didn’t know, yet heard their names, but at this juncture, I don’t recall them.  I will take this opportunity to welcome Pupita, an Hispanic Jack Russell Beagle mix who didn’t have a real name yet at 8 months old so her parents currently call her Pupita until something better comes along.  I also remember, or can see on her dog tag, Wilma, the spotted herding type of dog.

2010-09-23 Central Dog Park on a Fall Thursday Evening

This is my first opportunity to take Scraps and Rags to the Central Dog Park now that Fall has arrived.  Though the weather still felt nice a summery, the days are getting shorter and the sunlight is getting more precious.  While I do love the new Central Dog Park, as I call it, I do see myself taking Scraps and Rags over to Denville as that dog park has lights.  Though not as nice as Central Dog Park during the day, at least the Denville Dog Park has lights and remains open all year long until 9:00 p.m.  For this reason alone, I would welcome and suggest to all those that haven’t joined the Denville Dog Park to do so, for your dog’s sake.  They don’t want to be cooped up all winter anymore than you do, and you won’t be able to bring them to Central Dog Park after work in the winter.  Click here to find out more about the Denville Dog Park.  It is just up the road from Central Dog Park.

There weren’t any dogs in the small dog park so we went all went right to the large one and met up with Patches who came running over to Scraps but didn’t see to care thereafter; strange?  There was this nice family of 4 small dogs we met when we first walked in including a cute white fluffy Pierre.  I forget the other 3 dogs names. There was a real cool play session between a little Boston looking terrier and a mutt-a-doodle type of dog.  It was just as precious and the waning sunlight.
